Steven D. Epcar, Principal, has been awarded the Certified Property Manager® (CPM) designation by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and holds both a California real estate broker’s license as well as a Managing Broker license from the State of Washington. His experience spans more than forty years; overseeing the management and marketing of multifamily/residential, commercial, retail and hotel real estate assets throughout the United States and Canada. Steven’s “best of class” expectations and performance standards combined with his hands-on attention to details management style results in a highly productive project team and enhanced value. Steven’s comprehensive understanding of organizational structures and the dynamics of human resources translates into a responsive, professional service oriented approach at every level. Institutional & Private Real Estate Investment
Prior to establishing his consulting firm twenty years ago, Steven was with Carmel Partners a privately held real estate investment, development, and management firm based in San Francisco where he served as President, Residential Services. Throughout his tenure at Carmel Partners, he provided leadership in developing the management team and resources for a growing portfolio of multi-family assets located throughout the Western United States. Prior to Carmel Partners, Steven was a founding partner and Chief Executive Officer for Ventana Property Services, a third-party management and consulting firm based in Menlo Park, California. During his ten years at Ventana, he was responsible for building one of the most successful independent real estate management organizations in California; specializing in the management of residential and commercial assets for both institutional investment real estate organizations as well as high net worth investors and development groups.
Steven also served as President of Prometheus Management Group, a premier San Francisco Bay Area-based real estate organization focused on the management of both owned assets and third-party managed properties throughout the Western United States. He was responsible for overseeing both asset and property management functions including marketing and leasing of a residential and commercial portfolio valued at the time in excess of $2 billion. Prior to Prometheus, Steven held a variety of senior level executive asset and property management positions at various development, investment, brokerage, and management groups with responsibilities throughout the United States and Canada.
Service & Leadership Within the Industry
Steven Epcar is a leader in the California real estate industry, serving as a past or present member of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), the California Apartment Association (CAA) and the National Multi-Family Housing Council (NMHC). He served on the Board for the California Housing Council for many years prior to its merger into the California Apartment Association. Steven also served on the Board of Directors of the Housing Industry Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization. He is a member of the National Apartment Association (NAA), and Forensic Expert Witness Association (FEWA). In addition, he is a member of the CAA’s Property Management sub-committee and past Co-chairman of the Tri-County Housing Council’s Political Action Committee.
